I’m so excited you are visiting my site, and that this week is the launch of the Women of Wisdom book on Amazon. I hope to share stories here and will start with sharing some excerpts from the book.
If you have purchased the WOW book, thank you! I hope you enjoy it and that it transforms you just as the WOW conference has changed women’s lives in Seattle for the past 17 years. And please share the book with your friends, send them an email about the special gifts they will receive when they purchase the book.
Check out the bonuses from the WOW partners and visit their websites. There are some amazing people involved in this campaign, some have been presenters at Women of Wisdom so I know their work personally. We have been blessed to have many women at WOW who have shared their gifts with us.
An excerpt from the book :
The Millionth Circle: Transforming Ourselves and the World
by Jean Shinoda Bolen
If we are ever to have a post patriarchal world, it will begin in the United States, and it will begin with the generation of women over 50. There has never, in the history of the world, been such a generation of women in numbers or potential. There are over thirty million of us, who, thanks to the women’s movement, medical advances, and reproductive choice, have had opportunities, access to resources, education, travel, a range of know-how, and connections with each other and to others in the world. Each of us may have two or three active decades in which to make a difference. The fate of our planet also hinges on what humanity does—or what women individually and collectively can and will do, in this same short span of time.
It’s our turn. If we do not make it into a post-patriarchal world, then we will have failed. That’s really the message that I have felt in my bones. We have been under patriarchy for four thousand years—from the time history has been written—and it is time for the circle. Patriarchy is about hierarchy. It is a structure that enforces and expresses authority and power. In contrast, the circle is egalitarian and collaborative. To have a place in the hierarchy is about persona, often about posturing and the need to be aggressive. To seek power over others doesn’t nourish the soul.
Male leadership cannot change the fundamentals of masculine hierarchy. For there to be a balanced world where those without power matter, empowered women such as we can be, need to speak for the children, women, animals, and for our beautiful planet itself. Women’s wisdom, experience and compassion are missing when decisions that affect us all are made.
Kris, thank you for starting this blog to provide an important outlet for individual feminine voices and for building on the collective transformation we as women are enacting. As I talk with women clients, I see only wonderful evolution of consciousness and spirit. Your Women of Wisdom book is the right inspiration at exactly the right time.
Bright greetings on this clarion-call day of your book launch Kris. I am so proud of you and of all women who Dare to Dream and who hold fast to their dreams as they become manifest. It has been a delight and honor to stand beside you as this gift came to the world through you. Congratulations! And, of course, Love.
Thank you Melissa and Erika for your kind words. I’m overwhelmed with tears of joy this morning waking up to find it’s # 1 in categories and #91 overall already! And #2 in movers and shakers. And # 6 in personal transformation, right under The Secret! What a day! and it’s not even 8am.
I arrived at this blog site through a series of synchronicities starting with the completion early this morning of the first draft of a metafiction inspired by a dream some 15 years ago. Thus, I will leave you the website address where this first draft has been posted to do with as you like:

Thanks for your note, don’t you love synchronicity. Thanks for sharing your story and gift. Kris
Kris, I so appreciate Jean’s words and your leadership through the power of women and their collective voices. I spent the weekend lying on the ground at Aldermarch surrounded by a group of dancing women and a couple of men grounded in the feminine and moving meditation. The voices I heard as I danced, crouched, stood firmly on the earth stretching and feeling my own authority is beyond words and in the territory of the unknown. Stillness calls us to our next impulse and to a healing of our greater Self, the collective, the earth itself. We as women are on the cusp. Some of these sweeping changes we are already experiencing as we work with others, wash dishes, dig in the soil, play in a our own unique ways worldwide. Authority comes from within. It is so important for women to raise their voices–yell, howl, sing lullaby, in gratitude, in ecstasy. Here’s a call to Women of Full Voice, Full Body! Play=Peace, Mary Alice
Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I spent 5 days at Aldermarsh in December 2006 where I wrote the first draft of Chapter one in the book, which has since evolved into a couple of chapters, but it is a found memory of a sacred site where language just flowed through me. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I’ve just come from Kris’s website and was so excited to learn that you were giving a copy of your book away! It sounds like a wonderful edition to any woman’s library, who’s looking to empower herself and take charge! You’ve added something wonderful to the woman’s world of publishing!
Thank you for your note. I’m glad to know people appreciate the book.
